[Updated June 11, 2023] Looking for Keuka Lake accommodations? If you’re heading to that famous Y-shaped lake in the Finger Lakes, you’ll be pleased to know that you have a range of lodging options, from lakefront bed-and-breakfasts to historic inns to no-frills Keuka Lake hotels.

In addition to accommodations located directly on the lake, there are plenty of places to stay in Hammondsport, NY, which is the charming village on the south shore, as well as in Penn Yan, NY, the historic village to the north.

Keuka Lake, nicknamed the “Crooked Lake” for its shape, is a popular summer destination for anyone who loves wine tasting, water sports, or simply taking in the astounding beauty of the third largest lake in the Finger Lakes. It’s also stunning in other seasons, especially in the fall when the foliage around the lake turns vibrant shades of color.

If you’re visiting any time of year, lucky you! Read on for a selection of Keuka Lake accommodations and find the best place to rest and recharge so you’ll have the most amazing vacation you possibly can.

A quick note on lodging policies

Policies vary from place to place. Some basic information to look for when making reservations:

  • Many local inns and bed-and-breakfasts do not allow children as guests, or they have a minimum age requirement in place. This is often in the interest of preserving the historical buildings they’re housed in, and their antique furnishings.
  • Some places put a room or two aside for guests traveling with pets; others do not allow them at all.
  • A minimum two-night stay is often required during peak season, which is approximately May 1-October 31.

Keuka Lake Bed-and-Breakfasts & Inns on the Water

Are lakefront accommodations essential on your trip to the Finger Lakes? If so, I don’t blame you!

There’s absolutely nothing better than waking up to lake views, sipping coffee while looking out over pristine water, still undisturbed in the quiet morning, and then later, taking a dip at sunset on a warm summer evening.

If this sounds like your dream lodging style, then the best places to stay on Keuka Lake are those listed in this section. Continue scrolling, however, if staying in the villages of Hammondsport or Penn Yan are more your style.

The Mansion at Keuka Lake

Imagine a stately Greek Revival mansion sitting on a bluff above Keuka Lake. A two-story portico supported by Ionic columns complete the scene of grandeur. This is The Mansion, which was formerly known by the name Esperanza, and is an estate that has served many functions since it was built in 1838.

Formerly a winery, an art gallery, and a bed-and-breakfast, it is now a premier Keuka Lake inn. Guests can reserve one of eight elegant rooms in The Mansion, or choose to stay at The Inn, an adjacent property with an additional 21 guest rooms. The Inn is meant to be the more casual property of the two, and second-floor rooms offer semi-private balconies.

This Keuka Lake bed-and-breakfast is housed in a stone mansion built in 1887 and perched on a hill 100 feet above the lake.

Guest suites are inspired by the iconic 1939 film the property is named after. You might check into Rhett and Scarlett’s Hideaway, a deluxe room with a fireplace, king bed, and private veranda; or Melanie and Ashley’s Room, done in cheerful French Country décor; or the pretty pastel room named for little Bonnie Blue.

On the nine-acre property, guests have access to a private cove for swimming, a lakefront gazebo, and walking trails. A full breakfast is served each morning. Owner and innkeeper Linda Lewis has been welcoming travelers to her B&B since 1989.

Originally built in 1888, this picture-perfect B&B overlooks Keuka Lake and is run by a husband and wife team from San Diego. Prior to their move to Upstate New York, Steven owned a catering company and restaurant while Jeanette was (and still is) a stylist in the fashion industry.

Their backgrounds shine through in the full gourmet breakfast served each morning, in each of the stylish, contemporary guest suites, and in the overall friendly “laid-back California style” the couple brings to their business.

Moonshadow Bed & Breakfast is open year-round.
