That’s the beauty of this year-round vacation destination, located in the Capital Region of New York State. There’s so much to do in Saratoga. The city has remade itself several times over and tourists are drawn here for so many reasons.
It’s a city founded on old money, when the idle rich would travel from New York City to attend horse races or take part in mineral water treatments.
Today, it’s an absolute foodie destination, with a surprisingly dense number of restaurants serving cuisine from all over the world. Whatever your reason for visiting, you’ll need a place to stay. Read on for seven hotels, inns, and bed-and-breakfasts in Saratoga Springs that I recommend.
Please note that Saratoga Springs is a relatively expensive destination. Accommodation prices vary widely depending on the season. At most places, prices shoot up during the summer, especially on weekends.

1. Spa City Motor Lodge

Spa City Motor Lodge is the perfect choice for accommodations if you want to immerse yourself in the arts scene in Saratoga Springs.
Each guest room is inspired by local artist culture and meant to bring to mind an artist’s studio. Rooms are bright and sunny, yet minimally decorated and comfortable while still sparse. Tasteful art and photography hang on the walls throughout the hotel.
The interior of Spa City Motor Lodge was styled after a quintessential 1950’s-era motor lodge. A chic and comfortable common area provides a nice workspace along with free water and coffee.
Another great reason to book a stay at this downtown Saratoga Springs hotel is that you’ll be in the center of the action. Located on Broadway at Division Street, it’s dead center the heart of downtown.
Dozens of restaurants and cafes are just moments away and Congress Park and other major sites are, too.
The hotel offers two fully ADA accessible guest rooms. Pet-friendly rooms are available.
2. Saratoga Arms

If you stay at Saratoga Arms, this romantic daydream could come true. More elegant touches that guests can expect include plush guest bathrobes, original claw foot tubs in some rooms, a Guest Pantry stocked with snacks and beverages, and freshly baked cookies every evening.
Guests who want to relax outside can take advantage of the inn’s sumptuous wraparound porch.
If you’re looking to take things a step further than a romantic weekend away, this luxury inn also offers a Honeymoon Celebration Package. This includes, among other things, Prosecco and truffles, a full breakfast delivered to your room each morning, and a $200 certificate for a spa treatment in town.
This is a conveniently located downtown Saratoga Springs hotel, with restaurants, museums, and other attractions within a few minutes’ walk away.

3. Union Gables Inn

Guests who are interested in diving into the history of Saratoga Springs should put Union Gables Inn at the top of their list.
Union Gables Inn is located inside a Queen Anne Victorian mansion built in 1901 and guest rooms showcase the building’s history. Guests who stay in the Jane Room will be sleeping in what was once the mansion’s formal dining room, while the octagon-shaped Linda Room is located in the turret and decorated with Victorian antiques.
The entire inn is decorated with period antique pieces and though the guest rooms are also furnished to reflect an era long gone, they are equipped with modern amenities like jetted bathtubs and natural gas fireplaces.
Besides being steeped in history, you’ll soak in the beautiful nature surrounding Union Gables Inn.
Guests can explore the one acre of gardens on the grounds, plus lounge on the wraparound porch, and swim in the seasonal outdoor heated pool.
Located in Saratoga’s Historic District, Union Gables Inn is just 1.5 blocks from the racetrack and close to the downtown shops and restaurants.
Breakfast is included in room rates. Children over 12 are welcome. Some rooms are designated as pet-friendly.
4. Batcheller Mansion Inn

The sound of knocking when no one is around, cabinet doors opening on their own, and overheard conversations in rooms where no humans are present. These are all incidences that have been reported throughout the years at the Batcheller Mansion Inn. Some have even reported seeing spirits hanging out on the mansion’s grand staircase.
Both staff and guests have reported unexplained occurrences and evidence of a haunting has been captured.
But you don’t have to believe in the supernatural to stay at this Saratoga Springs bed-and-breakfast. Anyone who’s into history and magnificent architecture will appreciate the mansion, too.
The common areas inside the Batcheller Mansion Inn feature elegant maple woodwork, hand-carved marble fireplaces, ornate chandeliers, and plush leather sofas, all evidence that this Victorian Gothic mansion is of another era.
The guest rooms don’t disappoint either. They are decorated with the elegance one would expect from an inn that hosted, in its heyday, celebrities, royalty, and world-famous politicians (who may or may not still roam the halls).
The mansion was originally commissioned by George Sherman Batcheller in 1873. It remained in the Batcheller family until 1916. Furnishings that once belonged to the family are on display throughout the inn, making it feel like a historic house museum in addition to a plush B&B.
Breakfast is included in room rates. Guests must be age 16 and up. Pets are not allowed.
5. The Gideon Putnam

Note: The Gideon Putnam closes for the winter.
Guests who stay at here will have Saratoga Spa State Park at their disposal, which means being able to take advantage of the beautiful nature surrounding Saratoga Springs.
The Gideon Putnam, located in Saratoga Spa State Park, is named for the man who is largely responsible for the urban design and development of modern-day Saratoga Springs.
Gideon Putnam established the world famous Grand Union Hotel in the mid-19th century and designed a street grid that resulted in some of the wide, tree-lined city streets that make up the city today.
Putnam also tapped some of the city’s natural springs once he understood their potential to draw tourists to the area.
The Gideon Putnam is an ideal place to stay if you want to lounge on outdoor patios, do some easy to moderate hiking, or book a massage or mineral bath at Roosevelt Baths & Spa, where Gideon Putnam guests receive a 10% discount on services.
The Gideon Putnam is pet-friendly. The hotel closes for the winter season, but Roosevelt Baths & Spa remain open. Putnam’s Restaurant & Bar is located on-site and is open year-round.
Some rooms are designated as mobility accessible. Pet-friendly rooms are available. A daily amenity fee of $25 per night is added to reservations between May 28-September 5.
6. The Adelphi Hotel

Guest rooms are furnished with antiques from the original 1877 hotel yet still manage to remain stylish with elegant touches like leather upholstered headboards and marble bathroom walls.

The Adelphi Hotel is an imposing Victorian style building looming three stories high over Saratoga’s main downtown thoroughfare. In its 19th century heyday, it accommodated wealthy tourists, politicians, and celebrities. In 2017, the hotel reopened after extensive renovations.
Guests are welcome to use the hotel’s signature gold bikes to get around town. Popular hotel restaurants include Morrissey’s Lounge & Bistro, Salt & Char, and Sushi at the Adelphi Hotel.
Room rates vary widely depending on the season. Four guest rooms are fully ADA compliant. The hotel is pet-friendly.
7. The Nest on Saratoga Lake

The Nest is the best place to stay in Saratoga for anyone looking for a lakefront vacation. The inn has seven rooms, all with their own unique decor. For instance, Fish Creek is decorated to make any fisherman feel at home. High Peaks is an Adirondacks-themed room and Josephine is decked out in vintage French decor.
Three rooms–Lady of the Lake, Beachside Bungalow, and Owl’s Den–offer lake views.
Guests who stay at The Nest can take full advantage of Saratoga Lake’s summer activities including swimming, kayaking, fishing, sailing, and sunbathing.
The Nest is located on the southeast corner of Saratoga Lake and is about 9 miles south of downtown Saratoga Springs.
The Nest is part of the property called Brown’s Beach Resort, which includes Dock Brown’s restaurant, Brown’s Beach(a public beach), and a 150-slip marina. Pets are not allowed and rooms are not handicap accessible. Open seasonally.
